PGroove 03/20/09 Recher Theater Maryland

alt   Arriving a few minutes after Mad Sweet Pangs finished up their opening set, I could not help feel disappointed I missed them. This was a special night for me and there was no room for negative vibes. Tonight was about connecting with friends made at the birth of this journey. I walked through the doorways of The Recher Theater, the memories and energy were clear as day as they were back in October. This building was about to be delivered with a package that it may not have seen since Pgroove's last performance.

Pgroove wasted no time displaying their style of unique rock that makes them Pgroove.  If you have not been to a Pgroove show, it is like seeing Pink Floyd on on a quasi mind trip. The tones are rich, decisive and smooth. The sound is crystal clear, boastering a 5.1 concert surround sound system. Tones so clear, that when you close your eyes and move to the music a kaleidescope bursts with life out of the darkness of your mind. The beauty of Pgroove is that they incorporate Electronic into Rock into a style their fans label as "trance arena rock".  I am not exactly sure what trance arena rock is, maybe some mutant hybrid jam, but I know I can get down to it.

altAs they opened with No Decorations, my body was carried with the ebb and flow of the music. The life that emerge out of the darkness transformed before my eyes, here was the beauty of Cabulo-Monstrosity. The tranquility of Cabulo-Monstrosity put my body into a state where it floated across the room in a weightless like demeanor as I danced. As I closed my eyes, the greenery grew with a pastel hue taking on the shape of a paisley pattern in my mind. Brock's guitar carried me into another state of consciousness during Mayday. Recovered by the drums, the beat of ancients and our tribal nature were clear as day as they followed up with The Golden Path. It was during the second set that it became clear we were in for a block of energy above the first set. The band ripped into a Praise You, a Fatboy Slim cover, that let you know you were exactly where you needed to be tonight. The point of exhilaration in the second set peaked when the band laid out Macumba>Wu Tang Clan Ain't Nuthin' To Fuck With>Macumba. Feeling the beat of the band, the energy of the crowd, they chanted Pgroove for one more. The band heeded the call of the fans and delivered an emotion filled Robotz Waltz that settled you back into reality as the night came to a close.

Unique in it's sound, energy that carries you into the night, Pgroove is one show you don't want to miss.
